What is a trend?
Similar to a fad with the exception that a trend generally has the potential to become a long term influence on the market
Describe a classic product cycle
Gradual period of introduction and once accepted and established as a classic product the maturity stage would continue with no obvious decline in the sales cycle.

Mackintosh
Blazer
Classic white shirt
Describe a standard fashion cycle
Follows a bell curve with a gradual period of growth and plateaus at the maturity stage
Gradual decline in sales until it is found in the sales rail

What is a style leader?
Someone who buys a new exclusive design.
What is a style follower?
Someone who buys into the look when it becomes better known, simpler and costs less
What is an average consumer?
Somebody who buys a product when the style is readily available, simpler and lower cost
What is a design laggard?
Somebody who buys the style in the sales when the popularity has passed its peak
