Grain overload and feeding high quantities of rapidly fermentable carbs, leading to ruminal and metabolic acidosis.

Treatment:
Correct acidosis and dehydration
Rumen function stimulants e.g. Pro-Rumen, Vetrumex
Rumenotomy or transfer of rumen contents from healthy cattle as an emergency
