Nuclear family
2 parents raising a child.
Child is biological
Parents can be different or same sex.

Positives- 2 incomes, sharing the load, help with day to day things and different care methods.
Negatives- more arguments,can clash more, domestic abuse more likely and harder to make decisions.

A lone parent raising a child or children.

Positives- can raise the child the way they want, good bond with their children, no other opinions.
Negatives- a lot of responsibility, working more, little support, reduced income and little family time.

Multiple members of the same family living in the same home who are possibly co raising a child. Eg. Grandparents or aunties and uncles.

Positives-advise can be given, more support and more income.
Negatives-different opinions from different ages and generations, overcrowding in the home.

Having at least one child who is fostered or adopted in the family.

Positives- the child could be saved from neglect, good relationships with their parents.
Negatives- biological siblings may dislike them, conflict may occur.

A combination of two separate families with one or both parents having children form previous relationships.
