What is the definition of a family?
A family is a group of peope who live together or who are related by marriage or blood. This includes couples who cohabit.
What is a nucelar family?
This is the most common type of family where two people married or cohabiting live together with their children.
What is an extended family?
Three or four generations of extended family living together within close proximity with regular contact (common in Asian families).
What is a lone-parent family?
This consists of one parent (90% female) and children.
What is a reconstituted family?
Families with a changed structure and formed in a new way. One parents forms their relationship with someone who doesn’t have children, leading to at least one step parent.
What is a shared-care family?
A care of the child is shared by both biological parents, but in different households. The child spends their time between both homes.
