Sex should bring a couple together. This reflects the teaching “The two become one flesh”

That sex should be used to bring new life. As God commanded in Genesis for us to “be fruitful and multiply

Adultery
- The catholic church believe that adultery is wrong since it breaks the marriage vows “till death do us part”
- most people in the UK also see adultery as wrong it can create emotional damage

- others would disagree and say as long the couple love each other and are committed to each other they should feel free to have sex as an expression and deeping of their love
What makes a valid marriage?

Same sex are unable to welcome new children on their own. since 2014 same sex were only able to get married in the UK. But most church see it as valid.

Annulment
Is the church recognition that a marriage was never valid in the first place. This can happen if there is a affair, forced to marry or did not have marital, unitive and procreative sex after their marriage.
Divorce
The church does not however accept that divorce represent a valid end to their marriage this is due to:
- the vows says “till death do us part”
- God joins the couple together
- Jesus taught that anyone who divorced and then remarried is guilty of adultery

Sees it as wrong as it goes against procreation there believe that other methods can be used such as Family planning

- Having a child creates financial difficulty that can be avoided
What are the four main task of a family

The church believes that it is the perfect model of family life as it is led by a man and a woman. Other disagree as their believe that the most important factor is to have love.

- In the old testament women are shown as equal to men
- In the New testament women are shown to have important roles as Mary who conceived Jesus
Men:
Most recorded events in Bible are about men
all of Jesus Apostles were men
Church gender equality
- the church doesn’t allow women to become a priest due to Jesus having only male disciples
Gender Prejudice and discrimination
gender prejudice is the attitude that one gender is better then the other
gender discrimination is how the person treats that gender
- it is illegal in the UK in terms of employment
- It is visible through the pay gap
- The is against it as it goes against men and women being equal
- in 2015 pope Francis spoke about the gap
However:
- some people believe that positive discrimination is good and it promotes equality and balance
