The process whereby where individual learn appropriate norms values behaviour and social skills in order to behaviour in a manner acceptable to society

The way of life of a society including language music customs and norms passed from one generation to the next

The norms values and customs that are considered important by society

A group of people related to each other by blood marriage or adoption

More mobile due to a small number of people in the family so they can easily more from place to place

Economically self suffient do not rely on other family members for financial support
Feelings of isolation and loneliness in times of crisis if they live fair away from extended family members

Large in size . More than one generation live in the same home or nearby
Immobile due to large number of family members so they cannot move easily from place to place
Economically interdependent on a family business eg farm to provide financial support
Support provided by other family members in time of crisis
Patriarchal style decision making evident in extended families meaning the male of the house has full control of decision making

Often dependant on social welfare payments for financial support as high cost of childcare could prevent them from working
Emotional difficulty such as depression and stress experienced when trying to cope with the demands of parenting and sole responsibilities for all decision
What are the characteristics of a blended family
More common due to greater number of divorce or separation
Family size increases when two families come together combing bother sets of children as well as extended families
Conflict occurs between stepsiblings if they do not bind or get along or between stepparents and stepchildren due to a change in family rules
