The family
Is the only primary agent of socialisation. Where parents pass on cultural rules and norms through actions:
-parents are role models to there children and they imitate their parents behaviour
- social control occurs when children are sanctioned through praise and punishment
Primary socialisation
Refers to the first stage of socialisation and the family is the only primary agent. The family teach children their norms and values
Pester power
The ability of children to pressurise their parents into buying them products, especially items advertised in the media. Pester power is a powerful agent of control where the children can influnence and control adults.
