More falls, fear of falling, social isolation and injury.
What are some of the ways you can assess someone’s future risk of falls?
Timed up and go test (should be less than 11 seconds)
Haul pike manoeuvre.

What would you review in someone who has had a fall?
Medications - diuretics, sedatives, vasodilatatiors and anti hypertensives.
What should you assess in someone who has had a fall?
Vision, neuropathy, neuromuscular and vestibular system.
What inter ventions can you do in someone who has had a fall?
Bone protectors/hip protectors
Strength and balance training
Medication review
Home hazard assessment
What is sensitivity?
The proportion of people who said positive to a question and were identified as positive after.
What is specificity?
People who test negative and are correctly identified as negative.
What is PPV?
The proportion of positive results that are true positive.
What is NPV?
The proportion of negative results that are true negatives.
