hasty generalization
a conclusion which was made based off an insufficient amount of evidence
non causa pro causa
taking a related event and pretending that it is actually the cause of something
either/or
pretending that there are only two outcomes - your way (the right way) and your opponent’s (the wrong one)
ad hominem
attacking the person’s reputation, however unrelated to the topic in order to destroy their credibility
bandwagon
using peer pressure and the threat of social rejection to get a person into following the group think
slippery slope
drawing too many “and then” conclusions based off a limited premise/event
association
a false belief that an individual has the same characteristics as the group to which they belong
red herring
a distraction used when avoiding a question
