- TH believed that the king’s advisors should not be low-born
- Without Cromwell TH would be closer to the king so he wouldn’t influence him. In June 1539, had a public argument about Wolsey with TH.
- Norfolk was also a devout Catholic and opposed religious change. His closest ally was Stephen Gardiner, the Bishop of Winchester

- Needed to get married because his advisors were scared that Catholic leaders would invade.
- She did not live up to the portraits in Henry’s eyes and shouted ‘I like her not’
- By arranging the King’s divorces the King will be pushed into the hands of Norfolk
- Henry’s confidence in TH was knocked down

Religious Differences

- Henry was a devout Catholic
- Was having 2nd thoughts about Prot.. and supported the 1539 Act of Six Articles moved country towards Catholicism.
- In 1540, Cromwell’s enemies told Cromwell supported the opposition and protecting them
- Henry felt betrayed and that Cromwell was endangering the King’s soul.
