In 196 AD, Albinus declared himself emperor in opposition to the sitting Roman Emperor, Lucius Septimius Severus. This action led to a protracted civil war known as the Year of the Five Emperors. Great flaw was taking all of the forces of Britain to Rome to challenge Severus leaving Britain weak and defenseless.
