Q

What could the pilot do if flaps were set at 25º but when the flap lever was set to 40º the aircraft suddenly began a roll into a 45º bank?

A

Retract flaps immediately to 25º since this is most likely a split flap condition.

Q

What is one caution with respect to the trim stops about using the emergency trim switch?

A

The electrical stops in the system are deactivated so it is possible to drive the trim systems into the mechanical stops. This can be avoided by watching the trim indicator scale to monitor when the trim is close to the limit.

Q

How does the emergency flap button work?

Note: this is not the same as a manual flap extension

A

When depressed it directs transfer jack pressure to the flaps. To use it, put the flaps in the desired setting and then hold the emergency flap button down until the flaps reach the indicated position on the FLAPS position indicator.

17
Q

What are the steps for an emergency manual flap extension? (Do not confuse with the emergency flap button extension)

A
  1. Pull the FLAPS circuit breaker
  2. Grab the manual extension crank stowed on the left wall of the cabin aisle.
  3. Insert the crank on the reduction gear for manual flap operation
  4. Turn the crank clockwise about 200 turns for 25º flap extension.
