What is ownership data?
Information on who and how much someone holds of a security (debt or equity).
Who are the users of ownership data?
- Investment Bankers
- Sales & Traders
- Asset managers (large institutions, pension funds, hedge funds,…)
- Quants
Who are the primary holders?
- Insitutions
- Mutual funds
- Insider/stakeholders
Where on FactSet can you find ownership data?
- Company/Security tab
- Ownership tab
- The data is also integrated into other applications such as Universal Screening, People tab, and M&A Detail
What is short interest?
The number of days it takes short sellers on average to cover their positions (it could also be expressed as a percentage).
What is a float?
The number of shares available for trading. A proportion of shares might be held by long-term investors such as governments; therefore, they will not be available for trading.
