Factorising brackets Flashcards

Q

How do you factorise 12-3x?

A

To factorise you must see what both terms have in common. In this case both terms can be divided by 3 so we put 3(-) outside the bracket and we divide the terms to fill it in. 12/3 = 4 and 3x/3 = 3 so the answer is 3(4-x).
