Facial Bones Review Flashcards
Patient position for PA axial (caldwell) of facial bones
- Patient PA upright
- Nose and forehead against IR
- OML aligned perpendicular
- MSP aligned
IR for PA axial caldwell:
Medium LWC
CR for PA axial caldwell:
15 degrees caudad exiting the Nasion
Collimation for PA axial caldwell:
Include lateral margins of skull, half of forehead to upper incisors
Image critique for PA axial caldwell:
- equal distance lateral borders both sides
- symmetric petrous pyramids
- petrous pyramids in lower 1/3 of orbits (good OML/CR position)
patient position for Parietoacanthial waters of the facial bones:
- PA upright (seated)
- adjsut chin so MML is perpendicular to IR (OML 37)
- MSP aligned straight
IR for waters:
Medium LW
CR for waters
perpendicular to exit acanthion
collimation for waters
lateral skull margins, half of forehead to upper incisors
Good OML/MML positioning should show
Petrous ridges right below maxillary sinuses
Patient position for Lateral
upright L or R lateral
IPL perpendicular to IR
MSP parallel to IR
IOML perpendicular to long axis of field (chin lifted a bit)
Collimation for Lateral
Include about half of frontal bone/frontal sinus to eam, all facial bones must be included (mandible not that important tho)
