What 3 components contribute to facial ageing?
A
- ligaments relaxing,
- loss of skin elasticity
- atrophy of soft tissues

How do nasiolabial folds change with age ?
A
Weakening of the ZYGOMATIC ligaments, which suspend the malar soft tissues and fat pad
Causes downward migration of the malar soft tissue
Creates redundant skin that hangs over the fixed nasolabial fold (not deepening of the nasolabial fold)

What are marionette lines?
A
Weakening of the masseteric ligaments
Causes downward migration of the cheek tissue, thereby creating marionette lines

What are jowls?
A
jowls also related to weakening of MASSETERIC Lig. causing migration of cheek tissue. Jowls is descent below the mandibular margin and is formed from tethering by the MANDIBULAR LIGAMENT
