Blood supply Flashcards
1
Q
During Facelift procedure where does blood supply of facial flap come from ?
A
The anterior region of the face is supplied by a dense network of myocutaneous perforators
The lateral face is supplied by a network of sparsely populated fasciocutaneous perforators
Skin undermining during face lift divides the fasciocutaneous perforators located laterally; thus, the blood supply of the facial flap is dependent on the medially based myocutaneous perforators

Q
What is Frey’s syndrome?
A
Sympathetic reinnervation of facial skin flap after division of auriculotemporal nerve fibers causing gustatory sweating
