Q

How do we see faces?

A
  • Holistic processing
We process individual components of a face in parallel
  • Easier to recognize a property of a face as a face than in isolation

Q

Bruce and Young’s feature theory

A
  • Face recognition
8 process ohases, different processes depending on familairty with the face
  • Mostly for familiar faces, dont work for eyewitnesses (that can still remember faces after just seeing it once)
  • Suggest that facial identity and emotional expression are processed in parallel and independently.
  • Evidence to support both the independence and interdependence of identity and expression processing
