Fabric Construction Flashcards

1
Q

Explain the process of weaving

A

1) weaving is done on a machine called a loom
2) Fabric is woven by threading weft/filling threads alternately over and under warp/selvedge threads.
3) The warp threads are stretched tightly on looms and will not stretch further after the fabric is woven.
4) The weft threads are not stretched during weaving and will therefore give lightly when the fabric is pulled.
