F-5 Boldface Flashcards
ENGINE FIRE DURING START
If fire light warning comes on, or there are other indications of fire, proceed as follows:
*1. Throttles – Off
If engine fails to shut down:
2. Fuel Shutoff Switches – Closed
ABORT / ARRESTMENT
*1. Throttles – Idle
*2. Speed brakes - Extend
*3. Brakes – As Required
If required / conditions permitting:
*4. Chute – Deploy
*5. Hook Button – Push
ENGINE FAILURE / FIRE WARNING DURING TAKEOFF
If takeoff is refused: *1. Abort If takeoff is continued: *2. Throttles – Max *3. Stores – Jettison (if necessary) 4. At safe ejection altitude – Perform In-Flight Engine Fire Warning procedure
ENGINE FAILURE AT LOW ALTITUDE
- Throttles – Max
- Engine Instruments – Monitor
- Throttles – Max
If both engines fail at low altitude, and with sufficient airspeed, zoom the aircraft to exchange airspeed for altitude and time. Try to airstart immediately. A/C attitude should not exceed 20⁰ nose-up. Ejection should be done while A/C is in a positive climb
FIRE WARNING IN FLIGHT
*1. Throttle (affected engine) – Idle
If FIRE light goes out:
*2. FIRE lights – Test
If light(s) remain illuminated or lights test fails:
*3. Throttle (affected engine) – Off.
If light(s) remains illuminated or affected engine remains running:
*Fuel Shutoff Switch (affected engine) – Closed.
*5. If fire is confirmed – Eject.
Erect PSG Recovery
*1. Stick – Forward as required
Warning: If stick position forward of trim does not produce immediate recovery indications, full forward stick should be applied without delay. Delay may result in spin entry.
*2. Ailerons and Rudder – Neutral
Warning: Failure to relax forward stick on recovery may cause the aircraft to enter an inverted PSG or inverted spin.
BRAKE FAILURE
If detected after touchdown and flyaway airspeed available:
*1. Go Around
If brake failure occurs at slow speed or flyaway airspeed is not available:
*1. Brakes - Release
*2. ANTISKID Switch - Off
*3. Brakes - Apply
ERECT SPIN RECOVERY
- Stick – Full Forward
- Aileron – Full in direction of spin (through the spring stop)
- Rudder – Full opposite
- Flaps – Auto (not to sacrifice stick position)
INVERTED PSG / IPH / INVERTED SPIN
*1. Flaps – Up, (confirm up)
*2. Stick – Aft as required
*3. Ailerons and Rudder – Neutral
If spin is confirmed:
*4. Rudder – Full Opposite TN
*5. If control is not regained from an erect or inverted spin by 10K’ AGL solo or 15K’ AGL dual – Eject
LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL / BLOWN TIRE ON TAKEOFF OR LANDING
If flyaway airspeed available: *1. Go around If flyaway airspeed not available: *1. Abort *2. ANTISKID switch - Off.
LOSS OF CABIN PRESSURIZATION / HYPOXIC SYMPTOMS
- OXYGEN DILUTER LEVER - 100%
Fake
Fake
UNCOMMANDED PITCH/YAW
- SAS Cutoff switch: Activate
2. Yaw and pitch damper switches: Confirm OFF
