Eyepiece graticule and microscope parts Flashcards
1
Q
How do you calibrate an eyepiece graticule?
A
- PIace micrometer on stage + focus
microscope - line up micrometer with eyepiece
graticule
-find scale e.g 50 eyepiece graticule =1mm so
1 eyepiece graticule = 1/50
-for each magnification calibrate the eyepiece again
2
Q
why cant eyepiece graticules be used directly to measure the size of object?
A
-each objective lens will magnify to a different degree
-graticule must be calibrated each time
3
Q
What are the first Six parts of a light microscope?
A
- Eyepiece -lens magnifies by 10x
- Body tube - separates eyepiece from objective lenses
- Revolving nose piece - holds and rotates all objective lenses
- objective lenses - three low medium and high magnifying lenses 10-40x
- Arm - supports body tube
- Stage - supports slide being used
4
Q
What are the last six parts of a light microscope?
A
- Stage clips - hold slide in place
- Diaphragm - controls amount of light
- Corse adjustment knob - allows quick focusing by moving stage up and down
- Fine adjustment knob - focusing finer details of specimen being used
- Light source
- Base - supports the miscroscope
