conjuctive and sclera inspection
- open eye with fingers–thumb and pointer above and below (should be white)
- for palpebral conjunctiva evert lid
cornea and lens inspection
oblique lighting inspect cornea of each eye–should be clear to iris–opacities should be noted
if shadow thrown across eye surface when light shined obliquely
bad sign–high convexity
for pupils exam
look directly on – should be btwn 3-5 mm–if unequal should be measured and reported
direct pupillary reflex
same eye as light shined in contracts
consensual pupillary reflex
opposite pupil contracts
a patients ability to provide historical information accurately
patient’s reliability
