Extras Flashcards
Aqueous solution
A solution are water is the solvent
Soluble
When a substance is able to dissolve
Insoluble
A substance unable to dissolve
Miscible
When a liquid is able to dissolve in a liquid
Immiscible
When a liquid is unable to dissolve in a liquid
How are water molecules polar?
Have a negative and positive side.
Saturated
A solution containing the maximum amount of solute for a given amount of solvent.
(At a constant temperature and pressure, and equilibrium occurs between undissolved an dissolved solute in solvent. )
Supersaturated
A solution contains more solute than can theoretically be held in a solvent.
Unsaturated
Solution that contains less solute than theoretically can be held in solvent at a particular temperature.
Solubility
The amount of substance that dissolved in a given quantity of solvent at a specific temperature and pressure, to produce a saturated solution.
Do gases dissolve better in cold or hot water?
Cold water.
Whats the formula for molarity( concentration)
M=n/v
M=mol/L
n= moles
V=L
What is the formula for determining dilutions?
M1V1=M2V2
What are the types of hydrocarbons?
How many bonds are there between each?
Alkanes- single bond
Alkenes- double bond
Alkynes- triple bond
What are the names of the first ten alkanes?
Methane Ethane Propane Butane Pentane Hexane Heptane Octane Nonane Decane
