Q

What is a Random Error

A

An error that is caused by measurements of a quantity being either above or below the quantity being measured. *experimenter’s inability to take the same measurement in exactly the same way to get exact the same number.

( the effects of random errors can be reduced by taking the average of many observations)

Q

What is systematic error?

A

An error that produces a constant bias in measurement.

Systematic error is eliminated or minimised through calibration of apparatus and careful design of procedure.

  • Systematic errors are reproducible inaccuracies that are consistently in the same direction.
