A

IgE-mediated HS to specific raw, plant-based foods, cross-sensitisation

Link - birch pollen, latex allergy

= mild tingling, lip/ tongue pruritis, seasonal variation

Allergy Tests

A

Skin prick - drops of diluted allergen on skin then pierced, wheal if allergic

RAST - blood test, amount of IgE that reacts, graded

Skin patch - for contact dermatitis, allergens on back for 48hrs, read 48hrs later

A

SVC Obstruction

A

Oncological emergency, compression of SVC

Cause - small cell lung, lymphoma, breast cancer, aortic aneurysm

= SOB, face/ neck/ arm swelling, headache (worse in morning), visual disturbance, pulseless ^JVP
