External Features of the Cerebral Hemispheres Flashcards
What is the name of the large fissure which separates the two cerebral hemisphere?
Longitudinal fissure (space which is filled by falx cerebri)
What structure connects the two cerebral hemispheres and what fibre type does it contain?
Corpus callosum which contains commissural fibres
How do the cerebral hemisphere lie on each cranial fossa?
Sit of the floor of the anterior and middle cranial fossa, but posteriorly, there cerebral hemispheres sits not the tentorium cerebelli (fold of dura mater which covers over the cerebellum)
What lobes does the lateral sylvian fissure separate?
Frontal and parietal FROM temporal
What lobes does the central sulcus separate?
Frontal from parietal
What lobes does the parieto-occipital sulcus separate?
Parietal and occipital lobes
What lobes does the calcarine separate?
Divides occipital lobe into two
Which lobe contains the primary motor cortex?
Frontal
Which lobe contains the primary visual cortex?
Occipital
Which lobe contains the primary sensory cortex?
Parietal
Which lobe contains the primary auditory cortex?
Temporal
