Cranial nerve 7 (facial nerve) is compressed at the temporal bone pathway by edema produced by an unknown cause. Inability to frown or wrinkle the forehead, obvious inability to close eyelid, dimished corneal reflex, no hemiplegia, no other cranial nerve paralysis. Deviation of the mouth, no coma, no increased blood pressure, no aphasia, pain around the mastoid process.
