Emotion
Is a reaction to a situation that has involves your mind, body, and behavior
Primary emotions
Are emotions that are expressed by people in all cultures (examples: happiness, sadness, anger, fear)
Grief
A period of deep sorrow
Happiness
Is a normal response to pleasant events in one’s life
Sadness
Is a normal response to disappointing events in your life
Anger
Is a normal response to feeling frustrated or helpless
Fear
Is the emotion you feel when you recognize a threat to your safety or security
Learned emotions (social emotions)
Some emotions that are not expressed in the same way by all people (example: love, guilt, and shame)
Love
Deep feelings of affection and concern
Guilt
When you do something wrong and you feel bad about it
Shame
Focuses on the person rather than the action
Coping strategy
Is a way of dealing with an uncomfortable or unbearable feeling or situation

Are coping strategies that help you to protect yourself from difficult feelings
