A

evolutionary theory. suggested that attachment is a vital adaptive quality that has evolved to increase chances of survival though proximity seeking. attachment and imprinting is innate.

A

the idea that infants need one special emotional bond to an attachment figure to ensure good child development. this is their strongest bond, they use this as a safe base for exploring

A

innate behaviours that promote reaction, e.g. smiling, eye contact, crying, etc. maintains close contact between infant and CG

what is the critical period?

A

the time in which and infants attachments take place, when their attachment system is most sensitive. for humans 6-30 months/ 2.5 years. if a child doesn’t attach in this period, attachment will become very difficult
