Explainaitions For Att. - Learning Theory + E Flashcards
The learning theory suggests that all behaviour is _____ father than biological.
learnt
The learning theory suggests that the babies are ‘_______ ______’ and they are shaped by their experiences
Blank slates
The theory is put forward by b__________ who prefer to focus their explanations
Behaviourists
What are the two types of conditioning that learning happens through?
classical and operant conditioning
What is the def for classical conditioning
Learning through association
Def for operant conditioning
Learning through reinforcement
Children learn to l____ anyone who f____ them
Loves
Feeds
Explain classical conditioning ( learning through association)
When the baby learns to associate 2 stimuli together.
For babies food is unconditioned stimuli so it has a unconditioned response. The caregiver starts as a neutral stimulus and produces no response.
As they feed the child the child become conditioned stimulus and illicit a conditioned response .
This is considered love.
In classical conditioning what is the unconditioned stimulus and what response does it illicit?
The food
A unconditioned response
Explain operant conditioning ( learning through reinforcement)
Is learning from the consequences of behaviour.
If there is a positive response it is more likely to be reinforced and thus repeated E.G the baby crying for the response of food.
Reinforcement is a 2 way process. ( using the example of babies crying and CG responding)
Mutual reinforcement strengthens an attachment.
Is attachment the primary drive?
No it’s the secondary
Babies are motivated the reduce h_______ and attachment is then learned by an association between the C_________ and the satisfaction of the p______ drive.
Hunger
Care giver
Primary d
P: animal studies produce evidence against it.
W
E: Lorenz geese imprinted on the first moving object
+
Harlow research displays no importance of food in attachment
E: TST there are other factors of relevance in the formation of the attachments
P: Human research also sows feeding is not an important feature
(S)
E: Lack of support form human studies
Schaffer and Emerson (1964) found babies tended to form att. With their mother regardless of whether they fed them
E: Food is not the main factor in the formation if attachments
P: Some elements are relevant to attachment
S
E: The baby may associate the warm feeling and comfort in the presence of a particular adult. This may influence the choice of att. Figure.
E: still useful in understanding the dev. Of att,.
