Experiments Flashcards

1
Q

Preparation of a standard solution

A
  • accurately weigh out your split. Dissolve the solute in distilled water. Make sure you rinse every utensil you used with distilled water and put into the flask making sure you haven’t lost any of the known solution
  • make sure you fill up the burette with distilled water up to the line. Then proceed to shake it to make sure all the solute has been dissolved.
  • (use distilled water, as no extra ions to interfere with the concentration)

Q

Carrying out a titration

A
  • take your reading from the burette as of the menixus
  • wash out the burette first with the solution you will be using
  • fill the burette above 0 and then a little run out through the tap (to remove air bubbles)
  • use a white tile to help you see the colour change
