Problem Statement
They are an explanation that describes the issue that is in need of research
Hypothesis
A proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
Independent Variable
A variable that affects the other variable. Usually represented on the x-axis
Dependent Variable
A variable that is affected by the independent variable. Usually represented on the y-axis
Control Group
The group that is used for comparison. The ‘normal’ group.
Data Tables
Informative tables that have descriptive titles, and include units. Used to show data.
Graphing Requirements
Line Graph: Used to represent sequential data.
Bar Graph: Used to represent categorical data.

Conclusion
Includes a summary of the results found through research.
Validity
The extent to which a measurement, test, or study measures what it claims to measure
Qualitative vs. Quantitative Data
Quantitative relates to numbers, and qualitative relates to words and descriptions. Quantitative is factual, qualitative is dynamic.
Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning
Claim: Your simple answer to the question
Evidence: Direct information that proves your claim
Reasoning: Explains how your evidence proves your claim.
