Experimental designs-Repeated measure design Flashcards
1
Q
A01
Outline Repeated measure design
A
- Participants cpmplete each of the experimental conditions
- P produce two sets of data, one from each condition
- Data then compared
- Produces related data
2
Q
A03
Strength of Repeated measure design
A
There are no group differences as the same P are used in each condition , meaning Participant variables do not effect measurement of IV
( even if variables between p present , dont matter as if its affecting one condition it will have affected the oether-counteracting it)

Q
A03
Limitation of Repeated measure design
A
- Order effects- problem as P take part in all conditions, by repeating 2 tasks could create boredom causing deterioation in performance on second task,
However, participant performance may improve through the effects of practice with skill based tasks - Demand characteristics-P more likely to work out aim of study when they experience all conditions of the experiment
- More time is needed to allow for P to take part in multiple conditions
