Experimental designs- Independent group design Flashcards
1
Q
A01
Outline Independent group designs
A
- P only experience one level of the IV, meaning they oonly experience one condition of the experiment
- P are allocated randomly to each condition to avoid researcher bias
- Produces unrelated data
- Performance of each group is then compared with one another

Q
A03
Strengths of Independent group designs
A
- Less likely to have demand characteristics as P only experience one condition, less likely to guess purpose of stuydy or how to behave for that study & controls order effects
3
Q
Limitations of Independent group designs
A
- Suffers from participant variables, if more P with particular characteristic are assigned randomly to one condition, can effect measurement of IV leads to group differences affecting results
