Experimental Design/Vocab Flashcards
Step 1 - Identify the question
asking why we are doing this lab, and why it’s important (statement/question)
Step 2 - Make a prediction
hypothesis for lab
(can have multiple hypothesis, all have to be labeled)
-start every hypothesis with, “I believe that…”
Step 3 - Design an experiment
Independent/Dependent Variables
-independent: something you can change/manipulate
-dependent: something you can measure
Step 4 - Conduct the experiment
List all materials needed in lan/everything used in lab
Step 5 - Analyze the data
“Results” - explain whether you are correct/incorrect in your lab
(3 hypothesis = 3 results)
-sentence starter: “My hypothesis was correct/incorrect because…”
Step 6 - Communicate Findings
“Summary” of the lab
-Does not include results, don’t say if you are correct/incorrect
+How can this experiment be better, if you could basically redo it over
+Discuss any problems during/with the lab
+What went well during lab
