Q

What are the disadvantages to repeated measures?

A

Disadvantages - order it’s done could affect (practice effect or boredom effect) the results, participants could guess aim of experiment 2nd time, which could affect behaviour

Q

What are the disadvantages to independent groups?

A

Disadvantages - researcher cannot control participant variables (differences in characteristics), which is a confounding variable, needs more participants to get same amount of data as repeated measures

Q

What are matched groups?

A

Matched pairs is when there’s 2 groups of different participants, but participants are matched to have a person in the other group with similar characteristics that are relevant to the experiment (each group does 1 level of IV).

Q

What are the disadvantages to matched groups?

A

Disadvantages - time consuming and difficult to match key variables of participants, you can only match variables that you know are important to the experiment therefore not all key variables could be matched.
