Experiment 8 - Kirchhoff's Laws Flashcards
Fundamental principles in electrical circuit theory. These laws are essential for analyzing and understanding electrical circuits which are more complex than series, parallel, or series-parallel circuit
Kirchhoff’s Laws
German physicist whom Kirchhoff’s Laws is named after
Gustav Kirchhoff
Two (2) Laws that comprises Kirchhoff’s Laws
Kirchhoff’s Current Law (KCL) & Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law (KVL)
States that the total voltage around a closed loop in a circuit must be equal to the sum of the voltage drops across each component in that loop
Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law (KVL)
States that the total current entering a junction in a circuit must equal the total current leaving the junction
∑ I(in = ∑ I(out)
Kirchhoff’s Current Law (KCL)
Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law (KVL) is based on this principle
Principle of Conservation of Energy
