Experiment 3 - Uniform Circular Motion Flashcards
a motion in which an object is
traveling along a circular path at a constant velocity
Uniform Circular Motion
It is responsible for the change in the velocity’s direction, always directed towards the center of the circular path. and ensures that the object stays in a circular path
Centripetal Acceleration
Formula of Centripetal Acceleration
ac = V^2/r = rw^2
the force that acts on an object moving in a circular path, directed towards the center of the circle or the axis of rotation. It keeps the object in a circular motion
Centripetal Force
Formula of Centripetal Force
Fc = mac = mV^2r = mrw^2
The time it takes to complete one revolution around the circle
Period (T)
Formula of Velocity undergoing circular motion
V = 2πr/T
Varying Radius Workflow
- Set the radius of the string (vary)
- Put centripetal force mass (constant) along the pulley
- Adjust the pole to align with the mass
- Adjust the orange disk
- Remove the pulley and hanging 6. Rotate the apparatus
Formula of Centripetal Force (using the formula of velocity undergoing circular motion)
F = 4π^2mr/T^2
Varying Force Workflow
- Set the radius of the string (initial)
- Put centripetal force mass (vary) along the pulley
- Adjust the pole (initial)
- Adjust the orange disk
- Remove the pulley and the hanging mass
- Rotate the apparatus
