Experiment 3- Buoyancy Flashcards
When we jump into the swimming pool, we feel lighter; this is due to the ______ force.
Buoyant.
When an object is completely submerged in fluid, what parts of it is experiencing pressure from the fluid?
All parts.
How does fluid pressure get affected with increasing depth?
It gets larger.
What is the equation for calculating net buoyant force?
FB= F bottom- F top= p fluid . G. A (H2-H1)= p fluid. G. V displaced , where V displaced is the volume of the fluid displaced by the object.
With the experimental apparatus, what is the force sensor able to measure? How does this value change as the object is lowered into the water?
It’s only able to measure the force pulling down on the object. As it is submerged, the magnitude of the measured force decreases since there will be a buoyant force acting on the object.
