Experiment # 28 Identification of the different stages in chick development through observation of prepared slides (48 hours and 72 hours) Flashcards
Define fertilization.
The fusion of male gamete with-female gametes is called fertilization.
What is blasoderm?
It is a layers of cells arising from repeated division of fertilized egg which develops into an embryo.
Name the structures which are developed from-the endoderm.
These are the alimentary canal and its outgrowths, lungs, liver gall bladder, pancreas and the
urinary bladder etc..
What is the number of somites at 48-hours stage and 72-hours stage of the chick
embryo?
It is nineteen pairs of somites at 48-hours stage and thirty six pairs at 72-hours stage.
Name the structures that are developed from optic stalks of the chicks embryo.
The eyes.
What are Oviparous?
The animals (reptiles and birds) which lay shelled eggs to protect the developing embryo from harsh terrestrial conditions are called oviparous animals.
What are Viviparous?
In mammals internal fertilization leads to internal development and development of embryo
is completed inside the body of female which give birth to young one. This type of animals
are called viviparous.
In which region blood vessels begin to develop?
Area opeca.
In which side of embryo, you can see heart?
Right side.
What does blastodisc represent?
Blastodisc is a small, whitish spot on the surface of the yolk. It represents theliving part of egg.
Name the germinal layers of the embryo from which all organs of the body are
developed.
Ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm.
How different stages in the development of chick are identified?
Stages are also indentified bv somites.
What is a difference between area pellucid and area opaca?
Area pellucid is a transparent region surrounding the embryo, outside to this is-area opaca, it
contains blood vessels.
In chick egg, after how many hours. hearts can be seen to beat?
26 hours.
Name the artery that leaves the heart.
Ventral aorta leaves the heart anteriorly.
