What are the expectations for the balance labs?
A
- Carry out a basic balance assessment: interview, observation, standardized tools/measures
- Understand the components and hierarchy of postural control/balance and the means to assess various aspects and severities.
- Perform standardized balance assessments/outcomes
- Analyze and interpret the results of an assessment
- Summarize and explain findings to the patient or to other professionals.
- Carry out and provide basic balance training activities/exercises appropriate to an identified problem or individual w/ a balance impairment.

What are the expectations for the sensory lab?
A
- Carry out a basic sensory assessment (interview, observation, clinical skills)
- Perform assessment LT, PP and Temp
- Perform assessment of proprioception (and kinaesthesia)
- Analyze and interpret results of the assessment
- Understand peripheral nerve, spinal (dermatomes) or central (homunculus) sensory distributions.
- Summarize and explain findings to a patient or other professional.

What are the expectations for the Gait and Mobility Lab?
A
- Perform a basic functional mobility assessment (observation, clinical skills and standardized tools)
- Understand the development and lifespan perspective (older adults) of mobility (bed mobility, transfers, rolling, sit to stand) and gait.
- Perform standardized mobility/gait assessments/outcomes (TUG, gait speed tests, miniBESTest, 6 min walk)
- Analyze and interpret assessment results
- Formulate treatment goals and demonstrate some treatment skills.
