What is the purpose of the exhibit numbering system?
- Consistent
- Cope with multiple scenes
- Be compatible with technology
- Encompass all exhibits
Producing exhibits in court must be done in a manner which?
- Clearly demonstrates the evidential value
- Avoids any risk of physical injury, disease, accident etc
Who makes the decision as to what exhibits should be used for trial?
The O/C investigation in conjunction with OC exhibits
Following a Forensic Strategy Meeting, where should you record decisions of exhibits to be examined and what to record?
- Record in exhibit register
- All decisions about exam and priority
Why are forensic strategy meetings held?
To determine which exhibit or forensic exam is required and the priority of those exams

Allows the O/C exhibits to prioritise tasks in line with direction of the investigation

- Exhibit labelled with unique number and op name
- Scene schedule contains exhibit with all details
- Property is correctly packaged and sealed
- Exhibit label visible and secure
- Prompt action to preserve exhibit taken

Demonstrate in IMT or PROP:
- When they received and from whom
- Where and how the exhibit was stored
- When, why and how the exhibit was moved
- When and why they transferred it
