What is the purpose of OC Exhibits
Responsible for establishing and mainataining exhibit management systems and maintaining the physical security and continurity of all exhibits
Provide an acurately recorded exhibit package and thw availability of exhibits as requires throughout the court process

OC exhibist may also conduct and appreciation and facilitate a through interigation of every exhibit to establish

Why is is important to develop a forensic stratergy for the examination of exhibits
it allows the OC to priorites tasks in line with the direction of the investigation. it must be apprpved by the OC investigation and continually reviewed throught the investigation in case of developments
what action should the OC take when further enquiries are required
if they become aware further enquiries are required in relation to a particular exhibit, it must be brought to the 2IC attention to that follow up enquiries can be started.

Describe the chain of custody and state the purpose
it is a representation of the connection between every indervidual who has had custody of an exhibit, accounting for its location and integrity from the time it was discovered until the time it is produced in court.

What is the purose of a Forensic stratergy meeting
they are held to determine which exhibit or other forensic examinations are required and the priority of those examinations
when obtaining forenscis evidence from a witness at a scene, consider the following options
Immediate DNA swab of any areas of the witness that the suspect may have touched
Immediate DNA swabs of any blodd present on the witness
Immediate swabs of any other relevant stains present on the witness
Foresnsic medical examination ir fingernail scrapings, hair combing etc
Siezure of clothing/footwear
Siezure any items of property touched by the suspect
How do we protect the integrity of the electronic exhibits register?
only the OC exhibits and a typist should have password access to make alterations, although every member of the investigations team shjould be able to view it. The Exhibits register template can be downloaded from the serious crime template.
