Exercise Physiology + Demands of Endurance + Metabolism Flashcards
When do exercise and nutrition link?
Body composition (train adaptation, recovery, performance)
Carbohydrate, fat, protein and amino acid metabolism
Macronutrient inflammation and immune system function
Gastrointestinal function, water and electrolyte balance
What four things effect an individuals V02 max?
Cardiac output
Hemoglobin
Blood flow
O2 difference
What effects an individual‘s lactate threshold?
Oxidative capacity of muscle quantity of muscle mass
What affects an individual’s economy?
Type 1 fibre mechanics
Glycogen sparring (Increases/Decreases)
Increased Lypolysis and mobilisation of FFA’s
Increase in catecholamines (norepinephrine, plopanine epinephrine)
Increased time to exhaustion
Decreased RER are not consistent
Glycogen sparring is when
Adenosine binds receptors to CNS to inhibit neuromuscular release (Antagonist)
5.6% decrease in RER with caffeine
Improved rapid visual processing
Glycogen sparring w/ CAF (Side effects)
Anxiety, jitters, Gl discomfort, insomnia
Dose of CAF < 9 mg/kg/bw aren’t dangerous
> 9 mg/kg/bw of CAF can cause muscular trauma, muscle impairment and decreased coordination
