Q

Types of exercise

A

Aerobic :depends primarily on free oxygen from the atmosphere
anaerobic : it is short and doesn’t last for
Long. Body uses stored energy for exercise
Glucose is broken down and lipids too.

Q

How does exercise improve the nervous system i

A

The nervous system is involved in receiving information about the environment around us (sensation) and generating responses to that information (motor responses)
It is made up of the brain, nerves and spinal cord
Spinal cord is improved by exercise in that it is strengthened
It makes the nervous system alert and improve mental health if the individual

Physical exercise boosts blood flow to your brain, quickly delivering more oxygen and nutrients to your neurons. Regular exercise is one of the best things you can do to keep your brain healthy and sharp – plus it encourages new brain cell growth.

Exercise may provide physical benefits to the brain, too, such as increasing the thickness of the cerebral cortex and improving the integrity of your white matter, the nerve fibers that connect areas of the brain’s nerve-cell-rich gray matter.

Q

How exercise improves respiratory system

A

Exercise increases capability of lungs

During exercise there is an increase in physical activity and muscle cells respire more than they do when the body is at rest. The heart rate increases during exercise. The rate and depth of breathing increases - this makes sure that more oxygen is absorbed into the blood, and more carbon dioxide is removed from it

Q

How does exercise improve the CVS

A

NB- when asked such a question, write what the CVS is , the organs in it and how exercise helps these organs with their function

CVS is a system that controls the circulatory system of the body.
It comprises of the heart ,the blood vessels and blood
As you exercise fat or plaques that are stored in blood vessels are broken down facilitating easy blood flow and improves HDL levels and reduces LDL activity

Exercise helps strengthen muscles.
These exercises improve the muscles’ ability to draw oxygen from the circulating blood. That reduces the need for the heart—a muscular organ itself—to work harder to pump more blood to the muscles, whatever your age.

Exercise increases the strength of the heart

Q

How does exercise help diabetic people

A

How the body uses glucose during exercise. When stored glucose(glycogen) is converted by glucagon to glucose , body uses glucose during exercise using glycolysis

Q

Difference between stretching and brisk walking( diff between anaerobic and aerobic exercise)

A

Stretching- you don’t move your whole body
Oxygen isn’t used

Brisk walking- the whole body is moving
Oxygen is used

Q

What does FIts mean and what is FIT for aerobic activity

A

Frequency- how many times you exercise
Intensity- how intense the exercise is
Time - how long you exercise

For aerobic activity
Ideally, F should be 3-5 times each week
With I heart rate should be 60-80
T (exercise continuously for twenty minutes minimum)

If asked to explain FIt for aerobic activity- explain what exercise is and importance of exercise based on the systems, what aerobic exercise is , FIt explanation, FIt for aerobic activity

16
Q

Muscular flexibility

A

Muscular Flexibility. achievable range of motion at a joint or group of joints without causing injury.

17
Q

Muscular strength

A

Muscular strength is the amount of force a muscle can produce in a single effort

18
Q

Isometric exercise

A

An isometric exercise is a form of exercise involving the static contraction of a muscle without any visible movement in the angle of the joint. Wikipedia

19
Q

Isotonic exercise

A

Exercise when a contracting muscle shortens against a constant load, as when lifting a weight.

20
Q

Isokinetic exercise

A

Isokinetic exercise refers to movement at a constant speed regardless of the force applied. Muscles contract and shorten at a constant speed in isokinetic contraction. Isokinetic exercise allows muscles to gain strength consistently all through the range of movement.

21
Q

How does exercise increase immunity

A

Regular exercise can boost your immune system and help fight off infections. Exercise allows immune cells to perform effectively — it increases blood flow, reduces stress and inflammation, and can strengthen antibodies. Here’s how you can exercise safely to boost immunity during the coronavirus pandemic.18 Apr 2020

22
Q

How does exercise prevent cancer

A

Exercise helps your body regulate hormone levels. Increased levels of some hormones can increase your cancer risk. Exercise speeds digestion, which may reduce the time that potentially harmful substances are in the colon.

23
Q

FIT for anaerobic exercise

A

Frequency – 1-2 times a week
Intensity – 80-100% MHR
Time – 10-20 min
Type – Anaerobic interval training method
