Exercise 2 Flashcards
Define the Anatomical Positions SUPINE and PRONE.
- Supine: laying on ones back.
- Prone: laying face down.
List the body’s Levels of Organization.
1: Atomic (Single Atom)
2: Molecular (grouping of Atoms)
3: Sub-Cellular (Cell Organelles)
4: Cellular (grouping of cells. Basic unit of life)
5: Tissue (functional grouping of cells)
6: Organ (functional unit of tissue)
7: Organ System (functional grouping of Organs)
8: organism (basic living system made of continguous Organ Systems)
List and describe Directional Terms of the Anatomy.
1: -Superior: above
-Inferior: below
2: -Anterior: in front; forward
-Posterior: in back; toward the back
3:-Medial: between others; closer to
mid-line than other parts
-Lateral: farther from mid-line; side of
other part
4:-Proximal: near another part
-Distal: distant from another part
5:-Superficial: on or close to surface
-Deep: underneath upper layer
In 4-legged animals, anatomical position is with all 4 legs on ground. List and describe the Directional Terms.
1: -Cranial: anterior; towards head
- Caudal: posterior; toward tail
2: -Dorsal: superior; towards back
- Ventral: inferior; towards belly
