What circumstances should decide that an employee be paid hourly?
if they work overtime hrs, its better to pay them hourly to accurately calculate overtime pay
What circumstances should decide that an employee be paid salaried?
If they work same hours every week, its better to pay salary to not deal with calculating hours and punch time cards (you still must pay overtime though if they are non exempt)
What position makes someone “Exempt” from overtime pay?
exempt are those who are in: administrative
executive
computer professionals
and outside sales employees
What happens to someone’s pay when they are non-exempt from overtime pay?
They are entitled to overtime pay, but that means their pay can be reduced if they leave early
