Executive privilege: ability to withhold information from congress or to refuse to recognize congressional subpoena
Emergency powers: inherent powers exercised when national crisis
Informal powers
Those based on tradition, personal traits, political and sociological realities
Access to media: use of mass media allows president to reach public
Executive order
Rule issued by the president that has the effect of a law
Flat tax
A tax where everyone is taxed the same flat amount
Progressive tax
The more money you have the more you are taxed(current tax code)
Regressive tax
The more money you make the less you pay in taxes(sales tax)
Pay go
Before congress or the president could spend money, they had to raise taxes or cut from the budget
Trickle down economics
Tax breaks for business in hopes they will put that money back into the economy by hiring more employees ect.
