What does the the skin do
Release perspiration from sweat glands (sweat - Water, salt, urea)
What do the lungs do?
Excrete Carbon dioxide and water
What do the kidneys do?
Filter the blood (urea, water and salt) , regulate water content of blood, maintain blood pH, made up of many nephrons
What does the liver do?
Converts ammonia to urea, remove old red blood cells
Urinary system
Kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, Urethra
What is the Glomerulus?
Group of capillaries forming a tight ball
(Filtration)
What is the bowman’s capsule? What does it do?
Double wall cup like structure, allows fluid from blood to enter, creates filtrate
What is the loop of Henle?
Reabsorption
What is the ureter?
Tubes that connect kidneys to urinary bladder
What is the urinary bladder?
Where urine is stored until released from body
What is the urethra?
Where urine is released from the body
What are kidney stones?
Collection of solid material that may block the kidneys, ureter or bladder
What is jaundice?
Yellowing if skin and/or of eyes due to liver disease
What is hepatitis?
Inflammation of liver
What is end stage renal disease?
Complete failure of kidneys
