48 hours after resolution of symptoms
Shigella
48 hrs after symptoms end OR for childcare workers 1 negative stool sample 48 hours after
If s. dysenteriae
2 neg stool samples 24 hours apart and 48 hours after completion antibiotics
Salmonella
Confirmed case
3 neg stool samples 48 hrs apart and 48 hours after completion of antibiotics
Symptomatic contact - 2 neg stool samples 28 hrs apart
E.coli
If severe 2 neg stool samples 24 hours apart and 48 hrs after completion of antibiotics
Not severe= 48 hrs after resolution of symptoms
Bacteria to test for in pasteurization
Phosphatase enzyme test
Hep A period of communicability
1-3 wks
Norovirus p of c
Beginning of feeling ill to 3 days after recovery. Some can be as long as 2 weeks
